Add in full scriptures of the Gods
I came up with this and I thought this would be very interesting to lore lovers. To make a full set of scriptures for the Gods, which include Kormir, Abaddon, Dhuum, and maybe Menzies, probably not him though. This could also pass some time for people who like to read lore and whatnot, not much time sadly.
Opinions welcomed.
Edit Note:
I mean in game or on guildwars.com, not real books. If anything is put to main books, it should be actual novels, not scriptures.

Yess, I'd read them. Hell, I'd buy novels if they wrote them. >__>

And that would take an insane amount of effort to do properly. Do you want Guild Wars 2 to release sometime before the next millennium?

Do a fan-based thing, where fans write the scriptures. They're then looked over and edited by a few ArenaNet staff.

Making simple scriptures won't take an insane amount of time. Besides, its still over a year for the planned release of GW2, if they include a few things to keep us busy until then, even small things that only take 1 or 2 people to do, it won't hurt anyone.

/halfsigned. It would take a lot of time and effort, and I'd rather have a better storyline for GW2 to be honest; however I AM interested in the current lore and would like more detail...maybe it's something that can be incorporated into something else, but frankly I don't want any time wasted on writing lore which can essentially be pieced together from information already given. And frankly, this is a computer game, not literature. As long as they work a little harder on giving GW2 a half decent storyline I'll be happy.

Agreed.

For them to be "legit" they'd have to be pretty dang long.

While they would take a lot of effort to produce, I think they would not only be interesting to read, but also very helpful to the storyline of GW2 and future incarnations.

That is actually what I was thinking, in a way. Adding in scriptures would be very helpful to the lore of future games and whatnot. But that also restricts the possibilities in the future by a tiny bit. Ans it would be very interesting to read .

As for fanfiction, I'm not sure that it will ever happen. Please keep in mind that we're in an age of litigation. So we all get together and create these scriptures and Anet uses them. Which one of us is going to sue Anet first for our "fair share" of the 5 million copies sold? I don't care if it's 1% of each unit sold at $50 each - that still makes "my share" $250,000. Ummm, I'm fairly sure we could all use the money... Gas isn't getting any cheaper.

The scriptures would probably NOT be actually sold, more like put on the gw site or somewhere in game, like the hero handbook and zho's journal. An IG book/on site book is what I was thinking originally. That way, it would be free and if it came to fan-made then there would be no profit for anyone to sue for.

I doubt that the staff currently have anything to do with writing GW1 lore. All that lore was written about 3 years ago, and developed before each new chapter release. I'm sure all the staff have moved on since EOTN, or are now working on lore for GW2. To backtrack writing back to GW1 would automatically mean pulling someone, or more than one someone off some project to work on this suggestion. That means they wouldn't be working on something else, pushing back something, or overworking someone else. I also didn't say anything about release dates, but I don't want GW2 lore to suffer because someone was pulled off fleshing that out in order to write more on something that was already essentially written. Anet do not have unlimited staff. I'm quite sure the writers are all already working on something, not sitting in the office twiddling their thumbs waiting for some suggestion on this forum...

There are for the other gods. Why not for the rest? It's just placing some Interactive objects and link them to some texts. Nothing hard.
Many people like lore stuff, like the questions of the Djinn in Ahdashim.

They wouldnt probably do much with Kormir in game as it would be a spoiler to people who havent completed Nightfall. It would be good to put spoiler info into the thread name as well if we are going to speak about that

If any scriptures are made for kormir, they would probably be released with GW2, seeing how she isn't a god for very long and a full scripture would not be made till after the time of GW1. But I would love to see complete scriptures for Grenth, Dwayna, Balthazar, Lyssa, Melandru, and Abaddon. Maybe even add Dhuum into that, I don't think Menzies would get one since he is considered only a demi-god.
As for all those who are constantly arguing against this because of the time it would take. Just take one or two people who work on lore and have them make these scriptures, while also being informed with the lore ideas for GW2, and once the scriptures are done they would be viewed by the others who work on lore, and edited and whatnot then put IG or where ever.
I don't think that would be that hard to do really. And if they cannot spare a person to make a "rough-scripture" for the gods, then just make it fan based then edited by the staff. I think the later might turn out to be better, seeing how many of the things that come out of the contests that are done, such as Design-A-Weapon, are much better then the average stuff in the game.

Those would probably appear only in the Throne of Secrets and in front the Goddess of Truth statue, and nowhere else.
Afterall, she didn't existed before that.

Or, appear in the blocked off area in Chantry of Secrets or the domain of anguish. Any of those 3 would be a good place to put scriptures of kormir in GW1, but I say keep those for GW2.
